ASTRONOMICAL ARTICLES IN PHOTOGRAPHIC JOURNALS
NOTES:
-- The articles transcribed here contain information about photography of astronomical subjects, in particular the history of astronomical photography, expeditions, and so forth.
-- Some articles were published in several photographic journals. Cross– references are included when known. When articles have been reprinted from non-photographic journals, the original sources are noted when known.
-- The 19th-century photographic journals also contain a goodly number of technical articles on astronomical subjects as well as the photographic equipment used to record them. For the most part these have NOT been transcribed as they contain information available elsewhere, although sometimes the bibliographic references are included. In transcribed articles, long sections of very technical data may have been edited out and marked, *** with a notation that the material has not been transcribed.
--Minor or tangential references, such as photos being exhibited, or referenced at meetings have only been included if considered an important or interesting reference.
-- While an attempt has been made to include every article of note, these transcriptions should still be viewed as an edited selection and not a complete catalog of every reference to astronomical subjects in the photographic journals.
